Meji Meji x BLUEPRINT
On April 7th, 2026 , we had the privilege of hosting a workshop on Nostalgia in Modern Design Today at Suudu in Lagos, Nigeria. An immersive experience led by Tolu Oye and Taoheed Bayo. Rooted in the world of Meji Meji, the workshop went far beyond conventional formats, inviting participants to explore how African stories, cultural memory and living archives can serve as powerful foundations for contemporary creative practice.
With a cohort of twelve participants, the atmosphere was charged with research, experimentation, craftsmanship and dialogue. Each stage of the creative process shaped by collective inquiry and exchange.

It was clear that Nostalgia in Modern Design Today was more than a workshop, it was a journey into identity and creative transformation. Participants stepped into the evolving world of Meji Meji, where living archives became the foundation for contemporary expression. Through dialogue and collaborative exercises, they examined personal and collective histories, uncovering how inherited visual languages continue to shape modern design. Cultural references sparked conversations and historical narratives began to shift into new creative directions, setting the tone for what was to come.

Success was not measured in individual output alone but in the collective energy of a cohort committed to building purposeful, culturally grounded creative careers. By the close of the workshop, every participant had not only produced new work but had also gained tools to carry forward, frameworks rooted in memory, meaning, and vision.
